Are there people doing CFD trading here? If so, please tell us about your trading. Let me start, so I’m with CMC Markets and I trade a mixture of Forex, Commodities, Precious metals and Indices. I’ve been a PH stock trader for such long time and had recently switched to doing CFDs and am loving it
What am I missing? Wouldn't the cheapest way to buy US shares from Australia be to purchase USD from Interactive Brokers (w flat commission) and then send the USD to a Stake account which then charges a flat $5 deposit fee, after which all trades are free? Or is there something I'm not taking into account?
Beating the UK brokerage via true arbitrage - £8k -> £98k ($128k) since 21st April
Alright you American autists, here's a gains post from the UK across the pond - listen up because it's pretty incredible, managed to screw over our broker to turn ~£8k into £98k / $128k USD by reading the small print, true u/fuzzyblankeet style. https://preview.redd.it/9mlup18v0q951.png?width=343&format=png&auto=webp&s=aea1393d304d16063d62d54d30cc5be9b23d937a Unfortunately, we don't have options trading, commission free robinhood which crashes, or any other US based degeneracy, but instead we British chaps can trade "CFDs" ie. 'contracts-for-difference', which are essentially naked long / short positions with a 10-20% margin (5-10x leveraged), a 'holding cost' and you could theoretically lose more than your initial margin - sounds like true wallstreetbets autism, right? Well grab a lite beer (or whatever you lite alcoholic chaps drink over there) and strap in for this stuff: So, CMC Markets, a UK based CFD brokerage, wanted to create a West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil 'Spot' product, despite WTI contracts trading in specific monthly expirations which can thus have severe contango effects (as all of you $USO call holders who got screwed know) - this was just a product called "Crude Oil West Texas - Cash", and was pegged to the nearest front-month, but had no expiry date, only a specific holding cost -> already a degenerate idea from their part. So in early April, just before when the WTI May-20 expiry contract 'rolled' at **negative** $-37, the "WTI Cash" was trading at $15 at the time, but the *next* month June-20 expiry was still $30+ we (I am co-running an account with an ex-Goldman colleague of mine) simultaneously entered into a long position on the "WTI - Cash" product, and went short on the "WTI Jun-20 expiry", a pure convergence play. Sure enough, the June-20 tanked the following week, and we made over £35k, realised profits. But meanwhile the May-20 also tanked, and we were down £28k. But rather than realise this loss, we figured we could just hold it until Oil prices recover, and profit on both legs of the trade. However, CMC Markets suddenly realised they are going to lose a lot of money with negative oil prices (Interactive Brokers lost $104m, also retards), so they screwed everyone holding the "WTI - Cash" product trading at $8 at the time, and pegged it to the December 2020 expiry trading at $30, with a 'discount factor' to catch up between the two. https://preview.redd.it/zjjzyahx0q951.png?width=517&format=png&auto=webp&s=9523bab878f06702133631f12c1109081f299f65 Now fellow autists, read the above email and try to figure out what the pure arbitrage is. CMC markets will charge us a 0.61% **per day** holding cost (calculated as the 10x levered value of whatever original margin you put up, so in our case £8k*10x=£80k*0.61% = £500 per day, £1.5k on weekends for extra fun) on our open positions, but also "increase" the position value by 0.61% per day vs. the **previous day's** WTI - Cash value. Got it yet? No? Still retarded? Here's where maths really helps you make tendies:-> If your 'cost' is fixed at 0.61% of your original levered position, but your 'gains' are 0.61% of the previous day's position, then your gains will be ever increasing, whereas your costs are fixed. So we added some extra £££ (as much as we could justifiably put into a degenerate 10x levered CFD account) and tried to see if it works. Long story short, it does. At this point in July we were making **over £1k per day on a £8k initial position*\* regardless where the WTI Dec-20 fwd moved. Unfortunately, eventually CMC markets realised what utter retards they were, and closed down the arbitrage loophole, applying the holding costs to the previous day's value. But not before we turned £8k into £98k, less holding costs. https://preview.redd.it/uh0f8knz0q951.png?width=553&format=png&auto=webp&s=c7e629f72de5aeb4e837ccef44ecae708f058bee Long story short, puts on $CMCX they're total retards, and given what a startup robinhood / other brokerages are, never assume that only they are the ones taking your tendies away, sometimes you can turn the tables on them!
I discovered Forex last Tuesday, started babypips education, opened a demo account at CMC markets, did a few trades 10.000 virtual dollars now 11.000 virtual dollars. I am sure it would be more if I would've put take profits more often or set price alarms. Or if I didn't go short on EU/USD. And I really didn't invest much time in it maybe half an hour a day of trading. Is this just luck and are the demo account numbers actually identical with the live account's?
CMC Markets: is everything in CFDs? If so, how do the forward date ones work?
I just started a demo account with CMC Markets, and I was wondering if every single asset listed is traded as a CFD? When learning about forex from BabyPips I had the mentality as if I'm literally trading the currency; as in if it were in person, I'd be giving some coins in one currency and receiving another. I guess since CFDs are linear derivatives it doesn't matter as much, but I still feel like there are some additional considerations when trading CFDs vs "actual currency"? Also, what are the maturities on these? Are there even maturities? All the quotes just say "USD/CAD", "EUJPY" etc, but from my understanding of a CFD, you agree to pay the difference from actual and agreed, much like a future, so why are there no maturities? Question 2: For CFDs on things like equity indices, they seem to trade the whole day unlike their underlying. Does this mean say at 9pm EST the S&P500 CFD is just people essentially betting on tomorrow's open? And again with the futures thing, does after-market hours trading in these CFDs affect the real opening price the next day? (If markets are efficient and we assume there are people watching CFD prices like future prices, and then tomorrow's early trades become based on what the futures markets seem to say about the S&P, holding news and other things constant). Question 3: For CFDs with maturity dates like commodities on this platform, how does that work? Again, I'm mostly confused at how CFDs operate without maturities and how they different from futures. On the CMC markets platform, many agricultural commodities come with the suffixes like either "cash" or a maturity date, but currencies and equity indices do not. What does this mean? Those commodities I'm clicking trade on...am I trading a corn CFD? Or a CFD on corn futures? What exactly is the underlying mechanic? Question 4: yet another example. For the bond indices...what am I looking at on the platform? I just want to get a chart of US treasury yields but I don't think that is available on CMC. What am I looking at when I click UK Gilt Cash or US T-Bond Cash or US T-Bond Jun 2020? Tl;dr Don't understand the mechanics of CFDs and thus I'm not sure what EXACTLY I'm actually trading when I trade things like currency, equity indices, commodities. Surely I'm not actually trading a physical commodity or actual shares. Please note this is specific to CMC markets. Thanks :)
dash scam continues with mostly fake volume on exchanges
in this post, we see how the dash scam evolves with most of the exchange volume being blatantly wash traded and fake. this is the cmc market tab for dash: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/dash/#markets excluding the pairs which even cmc identifies as scam/wash-traded (the ones which have *), the rest of them are all exchanges that are unheard of.
The largest offenders in the top 10 include ZB exchange which appears to be wash trading their volume to over 390x as well as Lbank to over a whopping 4400x.
ZB.com is accused of showing 390x fake volume; Lbank accused of showin 4400x fake volume. Exrates is accused of having 96% fake volume (see "report" linked above) you can also just google most of those exchange names to see what kind of scams they are. considering on chain transactions, dash is among the least used blockchains, even though it has been around for years now from 2014 when it was instamined, and the scam has been ongoing since then. dash has a ponzi like structure where 10% of the block rewards go back to the developers, who then use that to pay for these shady exchange scam volume, to create an illusion of legitimacy, which in turns brings in new users who by seeing the volume think it is legit. always check actual blockchain usage, not exchange volume stats that are highly manipulated in this market. https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/dash-transactions.html onchain, dash has fewer than 7500 transactions on an average. that puts it below bch, below litecoin, below dogecoin and ethereum classic in terms of actual usage. you can compare actual usage on blocktivity evidently, it is hardly adopted anywhere with such abysmal usage. yet dash pretends to have massive exchange volume, most of which is fake. its proving to be a rewarding tactic for scam coin promoters to fudge exchange volume so that people who are not aware of these things end up buying these worthless scam coins. some of the clues in spotting such scams include large volume on exchanges that does not add up with actual usage of the blockchain, huge percentage of mining rewards going back to the founders (the blockchain ponzi scheme). unless the market purges itself of such scams, its hard to gain any kind of legitimacy as an asset class.
Looking for a broker with proprietary online trading platform that allows you to determine quantities for SL and TP
Hi to all the trading gurus here, can anyone please help me out? I'm looking for another broker with an online trading platform that specifically allows you (at the moment you place a trade, not afterwards) to determine the quantity of your SL and of your 1st Take Profit for the purpose of scaling out. Referring to my screenshot, let's say I'm placing a 20,000 unit trade. For my initial SL, I set it at 20,000 quantity at whatever pips loss. No issues here and it's very standard. For my TP1, to scale out by 50%, I would sell/buy 10,000 from my original 20,000. I DON'T have to place a separate countertrade at 50% later in order to scale out as my TP1 and then move my SL to breakeven. This feature lets you do it from the start. Other platforms that I have demo'ed don't allow you to set the TP1 at 50% of the position's initial volume. I have tried Saxo, CTrader, Markets.com, IG, PLus500, XTB, FxPro, Oanda, Etoro, Dukascopy, CMC Markets, XM, FXCM, and a few others. None of them has this exact feature. Can anyone else let me know which other FX online platform has this feature? Please don't ask me to stick to MT4/MT5 because I really hate their UI/UX/U-whatever. It's why I'm hunting for good online trading platforms that have the stuff I need. I can only see the feature I've described on FOREX.com. And it also has all the indicators I use in my algorithm for FX. But to be safe and diversify my funds, I'd like to use another trading platform similar to my current one. Thanks much in advance, I appreciate the advice yeah

According to the publication, the move is part of efforts to combat money laundering in the country. Commenting on the plan, Datuk Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, the deputy governor of Malaysia’s Central Bank Negara (BNM), remarked: “This is to address the abuse of physical cash used for illicit activities.” Malaysian economist, Barjoyai Bardai believes the proposed cash transaction limit in the country could boost digital currency adoption. EU Is Working On ECB Digital Currency With Possible Progress Next Year According to Reuters, progress on the feasibility of a digital currency backed by the European Central Bank could be made in the coming months, senior officials said on Nov 8, cautioning that the project faced challenges and was for the long term. Tunisia Issues Central Bank Digital Currency On Nov 9, the TASS news agency reported that the Central Bank of Tunisia was to be the first to release a digital currency. The ‘E-dinar’ was officially launched in the test form at the Forex Club of Tunisia, with a symbolic transfer of one dinar between the head of the central bank, Marouane El Abassi, and a representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading down nearly 5% at its current price of $8,850, which marks a notable drop from its 24-hour highs of $9,300. Prior to today’s drop, Bitcoin has been caught in a relatively tight trading range between $9,000 and $9,500 for a couple of weeks, and neither bulls nor bears had been able to incur enough strength to push the crypto out of this trading range until early this morning when bears forced it below its lower range boundary at $9,000. In the time since its drop, BTC has shown no sign of slowing its decent, as it continued to slowly grind lower as the morning dragged on. Review previous articles:https://email@example.com

I looked at CMC ranking for exchanges and I was surprised to see many new names that I never heard about No1 is ZB thanks to strange activity on Stellar and Golem !! No2 is BitZ never heard about them No6 and after DigiFinex CoinBene Lbank (ZECETH !) BCEX IDAX BitForex etc... Never heard of those. Even more strange a lot of those sites have exactly the same interface than existing more established exchanges (but which are farther in rankings) like OkeX or Liquid So is it real volume or just wash trading ? BitFinex is 15 only and Bitstamp 36 !!! Wtf !!! I personally think it’s fake but that’s what is reported by CMC and it doesn’t help for the credibility of this market to be dominated by fake exchanges. Don’t expect ETF anytime soon... Anyone having tried those platforms please tell your experience about trading, size , liquidity , deposits withdrawals (crypto and fiat...) Thanks
We are a prime example of data transparency and clarity and have been turned away? What to do?!
Hey /CoinMarketCap. We applaud CMC’s approach to validating legitimate projects with a research team... We also applaud CMC for recognizing the all too prevalent “wash trading” that got a coin listed and then immediately the volume vanished... We are 100% on board with the new direction of CMC to support the crypto investors with real projects, real teams, and true volumes... Our community has pointed our new coins with low volume have been listed recently. We have proven ourselves to bring transparency and legitimacy to the crypto space with a strong team and community. Some examples without spamming you are: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/wys-token/ https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/gold-bits-coin/ https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/kryll/ https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/jury-online-token/ These projects while do have similar volume to us do not have the history and proven track record we do. We also have projects that have decent volume but tokens have not yet been distributed to investors yet? https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/tatatu/ Bitcoin Growth Bot is offering full transparency with third party verified algorithm trading bitcoin in the forex markets bridging the gap between crypto and foreign exchange.. Please review our landing page for more information, https://www.bitcoingrowthbot.io/sign-up/ and follow up with any questions. We will gladly help you with anything needed. We urge you to reconsider our application for listing on CMC. Token: Nucleus (NCL) How can we get listed? Please do advise.
Questions on New Fees Policy (Effective 07/02/2018)
Hi Lykke users, administrators, pantarhei, u/richardbolsen I am a Lykke fan. The Lykke ICO was the first ICO I ever participated in and though my investment was inconsequential in value it was significant. Even as a newcomer to the crypto world I could recognise the potential Lykke showed. September / October 2016 was a long time ago in crypto years. Growth has been slow but the fans have been patient. Lykke has surprised us and Lykke has disappointed us. Trading volumes have grown and, of late, trading volumes have waned. While Lykke distinguishes itself from every other crypto exchange, pioneers new roads in fintech and works towards innovations in the future Binance gives the people what they want when they want it. We've heard this one before. Lykke's 24hr volume <$2Million, Binance's 24hr volume >$2Billion; 0.008% vs 8% of total 24hr volume (CMC). Binance offers 1000x the volume but still we wait expectantly for greater things from Lykke! We have waited and waited for a reliable app, a web terminal, new coins, higher deposit limits, liquidity, crypto debit cards and the list goes on. Dear Lykke, the 30th of January, 2018 marks the day our hopes were dashed - "Important update! Starting from Feb 7, 2018, Lykke will apply a new fees and limits policy." - No fees truly was amazing - too good to be true in fact. Thousands of dollars in Mastercard / Visa / Skrill transactions at 0%! The ability to withdraw $5 of BTC while Lykke paid $20 in blockchain fees! Sustainable? I suppose not. But Lykke: probably >90% of your support base is here for the no fees arrangement. Cancel the arrangement and we can all predict what will happen to Lykke's volumes. Any reasonable trader accepts that their are fees involved in depositing, withdrawing and trading fiat and crypto. A trader should expect the actual costs to be passed on as a worse case scenario. (For those who are unaware it is a norm amongst retail forex brokers to charge zero fees on deposits and insignificant fees on withdrawals including Mastercard / Visa / Skrill etc.) To the point... Is Lykke intending to profit from the fiat deposit fees outlined in the notice? Context: Other Crypto exchanges that process Mastercard and Visa deposits start from rates as low as 2% while their coin prices remain at parity with major exchange averages. Skrill processes at 1.90% + EUR 0.29 to my knowledge. Skrill wallet to wallet transfers are charged at a rate of 1.45% (free for VIP Silver and up.) EMI's process Mastercard / Visa deposits at 0%-1%. A small retailer in Africa can get a card processing fee of 2.75%. Is Lykke intending to profit from the crypto withdrawal fees outlined in the notice? Context: At the time of writing this response a standard (2 input 2 output) BTC transaction, with a blockchain fee of 0.00067320BTC (180sat/byte), would very likely be confirmed within the next block. Lightning Network is now a reality. Batched withdrawals are possible - fees can be shared (transaction volume required). With a particular reference to fiat deposits why is the no fees model no longer viable if it was viable at the outset? Context: higher (than 2016) BTC blockchain fees justifies the change in policy regarding BTC withdrawals but has no direct bearing on fiat deposits. How does Lykke intend to retain traders once the fees as per the notice are instituted? Context: Scenario 1. A total premium of 10+% on mainstream crypto prices becomes a reality on Lykke's exchange when taking new fees and price disparity into consideration and buyers run. Scenario 2. Sellers on Lykke's exchange are forced to sell at mainstream crypto prices for buyers to get the value they are used to currently hence no 'arbitrage' opportunity and sellers run. Scenario 3. New premium settles somewhere between scenario 1. & 2. and finds favour with remaining buyers and sellers on the Lykke exchange until they eventually learn about more favourable conditions elsewhere and move off. 99.992% of the market have decided to trade elsewhere even with the current no fees offering. In conclusion we understand very well that Lykke intends to go beyond the average crypto exchange offering and are by no means being short sighted. We understand that there are fees related to trading that need to be paid. To go from fee-free to what appears to be marked up rates does not comply with the vision of the Lykke we know - is the vision changing? Jonathan
